My Ideal Yummy Guy
I receive this question all the time fromthe readers of my novels, and it was asked again Saturday at my booksigning, so I thought I would talk a little about it here. My readers often want to know if I have modeled any of the yummy heroes in my novels after my husband? The answer is No. All of my gorgeous heroes are fictional. Totally. I did use the notes I took during my husband’s midlife crisis twelve years ago for the midlife crisis Ravena’s husband, Odell, experienced in The Witches of Dixie, but that’s it. So, none of the yummy guys in my novels and novellas are my husband. They don’t look like him, and they don’t act like him.
I always tell my readers that Donnie (in What Witches Want) is my ideal yummy guy. He’s a Gamma (part Alpha, part Beta). Tall and lean with gorgeous, long blonde hair hanging halfway down his back. YUMMY! Can you tell I’ve always had a thing for blondes? Give me a blonde with long hair, and …yowee!…my libido goes into overdrive. I guess that’s because I was lucky enough to grow up in the hippy days of the late 60s and early 70s, when most young, gorgeous men had long hair. My, oh my, it was a banquet table back then for sure (naughty grin!).
My second fav is a good-looking guy with long black hair. Yup, that would be Wynn in What Witches Want and A Rune Witch (the spin-off series with Noelle). That would also be Dray in A Vampire’s Kiss. So all of my ideal yummy guys are in my novels. Think about that for a minute. What have I done? I’ve created a life where I spend all day living in a fictional fantasy world, writing hot romantic and sex scenes with my ideal yummy guys. Is that brilliant, or what?! *wicked grin*
Back to my boy-toy husband. Does he look like my ideal men? Nope. He’s an ex-jock, short hair, tall, dark, and handsome. When he was in his 30s and wore a golf hat everyone said he looked like Tom Selleck in Magnum, and he did. Of course, he doesn’t look like Magnum anymore now that he’s in his 50s. But neither does Tom Selleck. My husband is a very conservative, mellowing uber-Alpha. So what is he doing married forever to an ultra-liberal Faery Witch who writes PNR/Erotica novels and adores Gammas?
Who knows? But I’ll tell you one thing. Yesterday, he gave me the Journey CD. That’s right. The same one I gave to him for our 29th anniversary last Monday. Since then (as you all know) my Journey/Steve Perry obsession has completely whirled off the charts. Not to mention my lust level. So he took pity on me, knowing I’ll have more opportunity to listen to it in my car than I would in his. What a sweet guy, right? Or maybe it was just self-preservation. We both know it’s safer for him if that CD is out of his car, considering what Steve Perry’s voice does to my libido. Have I mentioned how tired my husband is lately? Yeah, the man is exhausted. And the last thing he needs is to give me another excuse to jump his bones. Trust me. The man needs a break. Not that I intend to give him one, but that’ll be my little secret (lusty smile). In the meantime, I’ll be listening to Steve Perry every morning in my car. What can I say? Life is gooooooood!

You know you really can’t marry your ideal yummy guy. If you do, then you realize your ideal has flaws
Although I have to say I didn’t marry my ideal yummy guy who was ripped beyond all belief and bowed to my every whim, I did luck out and get a pretty darn fantastically wonderful man 
So, maybe he’s the reality guy and for me, that’s pretty sweet 
So, I am pretty thrilled even if he doesn’t have a perfect 6 pack abs

Melissa, you crack me up!! You did good…I’ve met your husband…he’s a keeper for sure!!
I’ve never been one for 6-pack abs or ripped chests myself. Give me a lean body with soft chest hair, sinewy muscles, etc. And long hair (did I mention that?). Yeah, works for me. *wicked grin*

I definitely have no complaints and frankly I don’t miss the abs or ripped chest. But I have always told him that if Johnny Depp ever comes knocking, I will have to try it out for awhile
Love me some Johnny Depp…he’s just hot! But, you’re right. My hubby is definitely a keeper. I can’t imagine life without him…he is an awesome guy and I couldn’t really have asked for better…I’m pretty blessed. And did I mention the sex is outstanding

LOVE Johnny Depp too!! Especially when he has long hair (gee, what a surprise!). Totally YUMMY guy!!
Ah, okay, now I’ll let you keep your hubby. If the sex is outstanding, I mean, is there anything else? Just kidding. Well, actually I’m not (naughty smile). And you know that’s the truth, because you were at my booksigning and heard my readers and I laughing and talking about yummy guys and sex. Dear Goddess, we have fun at those things! *naughty smile*
Yeah, I ran into my husband when I was leaving this morning to run errands. You should have seen the smile on his face when he saw the Journey CD in my hand. What a hoot. I’m going to blog about it tomorrow. The man is a trip!

Yep, Johnny Depp with the long hair is awesome
Some guys just ooze sex appeal with or without the long hair though. He’s one of them.
Thanks for letting me keep my hubby. I, like you, have a crazy libido and he stays worn out too
And yeah, the sex is unbelievable so I have to say that I am perfectly pleased in all ways 
Is there anything else you ask? Hmmm…yeah, but the other stuff is not as naughty

Hoping to read more of your book tonight. Hubby has been needy lately though so I have been playing his online game with him more than reading lately. But, I am desperate for some book time…if not tonight, then definitely tomorrow.
