Some of My Fav Erotica Novels

Since I read a LOT of erotica every year, readers often ask me about my favs. So I thought I’d talk about some of my fav authors and series in my blog post today.

Oh, and don’t worry. For those of you who’ve been following my posts this week, Wes DID give it up last night. I’ll tell you all about it on Thursday. *wicked grin*

Okay, back to books. My fav erotica novelist has got to be Emma Holly. No doubt about it. I’ve read all her stand-alone erotica novels and series, but my fav is her “Demon Series.” So far there are three novellas in anthologies and three novels in this series. The novels are my fav, so I’ll list them in order here:

1.) Demon’s Daughter

2.) Prince of Ice

3.) Demon’s Fire

“Prince of Ice” and “Demon’s Fire” flow seamlessly into each other, so they read like Part 1 and Part 2 of the same story. Believe it or not, “Demon’s Fire” is actually my fav erotica novel of all time. It’s awesome! I fell so hard for Prince Pahndir, the sexy Yama prince, that I still haven’t recovered. With his yummy bod, and long silky waist-length black hair, Pahndir could bang me like a screen door in a hurricane ANY DAY. No, I’m not kidding. *horny grin*

My next fav erotica author is Lora Leigh. I have read most of her series, but my fav is “Bound Hearts,” her erotica ménage series. The first four novels in this series were published by Ellora’s Cave. They’re good, and they give you needed background info on the characters. But when she switched publishers a few years ago to St. Martin’s Griffin the novels in this series climbed to outstanding heights. Those novels are:

7.) Only Pleasure

8.) Guilty Pleasure (coming in Jan. 2010)

“Wicked Pleasure” and “Only Pleasure” read like Part 1 and Part 2 of the same story. They tell the tale of the sexy Falladay twins, Cam and Chase. My, oh my, I fell hard for Cam in “Wicked Pleasure.” Love these novels!

My next fav series is what is commonly called the “Mona Lisa” series by Sunny. Some think of it as PNR (paranormal romance). Others call it erotica. Whatever. All I can say is it’s HOT! And Sunny’s heroes (Gryphon, Halcyon, and Dontaine) are total panty-melts. Technically this series is called ” The Monere: Children of the Moon,” and it looks like this:

There are also some stand-alone erotica novels I adore. “Swing” by Opal Carew is one of my top 5 favs, and the best novel she has written IMO. Yeah, it’s about swinging and the lifestyle.

“Seven Nights of Sin” by Lacey Alexander is also in my top 5 favs. Her hero Damon Andros with his long black hair, leather pants, and raging libido is what wet dreams are made of. I’ll never forget that sizzling sex scene in the broom closet at a night club. YOWZA! *lusty grin*

One of my fav ménage novels is “Colters’ Woman” by Maya Banks. This is also my fav of her novels, since she has moved into painfully intense BDSM in recent years, and that’s not my kink. Last but not least is Charlene Teglia. Her novels are hit and miss for me because she writes erotica in all genres. Some of those genres are my cuppa, and some aren’t. But I’ll tell you what. When she hits the mark with me, all I can say is WOW! These are my favs of hers:

Of course, all of these novels are on my Keeper Shelf, and I’ve read them several times. Like I said, I read erotica all year, and you know how it is if you read a lot. Every once in a while you’re gonna go through a period where you read 4-5 novels in a row that just don’t click for you. I don’t know about you, but when that happens to me I’m desperate for a good read. So I grab one of these fabulous novels from my Keeper Shelf, and soon I’m in erotica nirvana. Ahhhhh…..! No matter how often I read them they’re always a 5-star experience and just what I needed.

So if you’re looking for great erotica, give some of these awesome novels and series a try. Who knows? You might end up loving them as much as I do.

Also, for those of you who’ve been waiting for “Sex Magick,” the first erotic novella in the “Rune Witch” series to come out, the wait just got longer. No kidding. I found out yesterday morning the publisher of that erotica ebook series (Forbidden Publications) went out of business two days ago.

This week I’ve been reading more in the book “Sex on the Brain” by Dr. Daniel Amen. And I’m learning all kinds of fascinating sex trivia. First, I want to thank everyone who emailed, PMed, and commented on my blog yesterday about the recentcensorship fiasco. You’ve all made me feel very loved and appreciated! Thanks for helping me through a day that could’ve been a total bummer. Like I always say….you are the BEST!

If you’re wondering why my blog post is later than usual on this Saturday morning it’s because I decided to sleep in a little longer. This has been such a busy week! All good stuff, but still exhausting, so I decided to catch up on my beauty rest. Kinda. *naughty grin*

Anyway, if everything goes according to plan, I’ll finish "A Vampire’s Kiss" today. I thought I would finish it yesterday, but Sara and Dray decided they wanted one more chapter, so now it looks like the first draft of this novel will end on Chapter 37. Whew! Dear Goddess I had fun yesterday! Maybe it was the Full Moon. Whatever. But I was in rare form (which means I was hornier than usual) and loving every minute of it!!

My goodness, I had fun yesterday! At the post office I picked up several checks, including a nice royalty check from one of my publishers. Well, you know how much I love my sex books, so I went back yesterday and snapped that one up. I’ll tell you more about it in a minute.

Hope you had a great weekend! Mine was major fun. On Saturday the Uber and I went down to Charleston for a wedding. After much moaning and groaning from the Uber, he slips it into the CD player. Okay, he’s not a rabid fan of Journey like I am.

An hour later when the last song ends, I say, "Want to listen to it again?" The Uber gives me a withering look and says, "No." It always makes me laugh when he says that word, because he doesn’t say it like everyone else. Instead he rolls the first letter and clips the last one really short, kinda like "Nnnnnnnnno." Translation? Nada/Never/Forget it/Don’t bring this up again anytime soon. Totally Uber, isn’t it? ROFL

Okay, no encore for the Journey CD. That leaves an hour of drive-time to fill. What will we do? Fortunately, I tossed the pickle book in my backpack purse before we left Columbia. If you didn’t come to my blog chat on Friday, you might not know about this book. It’s called Tickle His Pickle: Your Hands-On Guide to Penis Pleasing by Dr. Sadie Allison. No kidding. I bought it at Waldenbooks on Friday, and figured I’d have some time in Charleston to read through it. This seems like a good opportunity, so I pull it out and begin reading the highlights from it to the Uber for the next hour. Ya know, stuff like Penis No-Nos, Testicle No-Nos, How to shave a man’s balls (verrrry carefully), flavored lubes, etc.

When we arrive at the hotel in downtown Charleston I’m already halfway through the book. After parking in the public garage and checking into our hotel room, we flop down on each of the double beds for a nap before we need to get dressed for the wedding. The Uber turns golf on the TV (with the sound muted, of course). I pull out the pickle book and continue entertaining him with tidbits from this informative little gem.

Now I’m to the part about the different techniques for giving a good BJ (the Thank U, the Sausage Wrap, the Twister, the Turtleneck, the Cigar Roll, the Double His Pleasure, the Tricky Dick, the Ball Buzzer, etc.). I’m about to start the chapter on how to use a vibrator to enhance your BJ technique (Ooooh, sounds like fun! *wicked grin*). The Uber smiles at me and says, "Hmm, I think we should try some of this stuff after the reception tonight." I give him a naughty grin and reply, "My thinkin’ exactly."

The wedding was very nice. And, no, the church didn’t collapse when I walked through the door. In fact the groom came up to me outside and said he wanted to talk with me later, because he admires the fact that I’m not like everyone else his parents know. He loves that I’m "different," and I exist "outside the box" (his words). I’m thinking this is totally cool. Someone has obviously been saying nice things about me (thanks, Trisha and Gus!). Hey, maybe that’s why no one threw holy water at me when I walked through the door of the church. No, wait. That’s for vampires, isn’t it?

Anyway, the reception was the best party I’ve been to in years (thanks, Trisha and Gus!). I had been warning the Uber for weeks I planned to do a lot of dancing at the reception. He thought I was kidding, because he hates to dance. Nope, I was serious. I lost count how many times I pulled him out on the dance floor so I could shake my fanny. Hey, not my fault. The band was awesome, playing an endless hit list of pop dance tunes from the 70s and 80s. Yup, I was a dancing fool and loved every minute of it, while completely ignoring the Uber’s pleas for mercy (of course). All I can say is that reception ROCKED! I also handed out lots of my business cards to interested people, much to the Uber’s chagrin. He seems to think the fact that I write erotica should be "a secret" when it comes to the people he knows. Nah.

When we got back to the hotel room five hours later, we agreed we were too exhausted to give the pickle book a test drive. The Uber goes into the bathroom to brush his teeth and comes out just as I strip off my shirt and bra and grab my nightgown. He starts walking toward me, looking more like a hungry man than someone who’s been tortured for over two hours on the dance floor. "Mmm," he says, licking his lips, "what have we here?" I drop the nightgown and wiggle my breasts at him. "I thought you were too tired," I reply, smiling wickedly. "Mmm," he says again, as he grabs me and begins nibbling. Now it’s my turn to say, "Mmmm…..!!"

Several orgasms later I fall asleep with ear plugs in my ears (the Uber snores) and a verrrry satisfied smile on my face. We never got around to taking the pickle book for a test drive. But, hey, there’s always tonight. *lusty grin*

I’ve created this journal to talk about my fav subject….erotica and paranormal romance novels! I plan to post daily, but we’ll see how that goes. This year is packed with book deadlines for my own series of novels, but if I keep these postings short I should be able to manage this, right?

Okay, what am I reading now? Demon’s Fire by Emma Holly. I read about 150-200 PNR and erotica novels every year, and in the last week I have read a few that were meh. When that happens I need to read a really good one, you know? Yeah, I’m really into satisfaction (naughty grin).

I have had my husband reading erotica novels lately so he’ll have an idea of what’s what in my market when he reads my manuscripts (in other words, he won’t be SHOCKED at what he finds in mine *big smile*). He just finished Demon’s Fire, which is one of my all-time fav erotica novels.

Now he is reading the manuscript of my latest PNR novel, Call of the Witches: Book Three of the Witchery Series. I turned it in to my publisher last week. Between my editor and my husband they usually catch any typos I missed, so that’s a very good thing.

Anyway, now that he is finished Demon’s Fire I knew it was just the novel to give me the fabulous reading experience I have been lacking this week. Emma Holly’s demon series is one of my favs. If you have never read Emma Holly’s erotica novels you are missing out on one of the greats in this genre. No kidding. She is awesome!
