The Manigault Vampires Series Goes on Sale TODAY!

Awesome news, isn’t it? And it’s about time, too!

First, I want to thank all of you who’ve stayed with me faithfully through the last year of my insane career. Why? Because it’s been 16 verrrrrrry long months since my last erotic romance, Call of the Witches, was published.

Trust me. I never in a million years planned for that to happen. But Forbidden Publications (who bought my Rune Witch Series) was supposed to publish that ebook novella trilogy in the Spring/Summer of 2009. And Trytium Publishing was set to publish A Vampire’s Kiss in the fall of 2009.

Instead Forbidden went out of business in March, shocking many of its authors, including me. That meant I had to stop working on the vamp novel to find a new publisher for the The Rune Witch Series.

See? My plan was for four new erotica novels and novellas to come out in 2009 for my rabid fans. Instead zero were published. Argh!!

I got a new agent in May who spent the rest of the year buying out my publishing contracts with two of my publishers (Trytium and Artemesia) and consolidating those books with one publisher (Magicomm Media).

All of this has taken time. Too much time, as far as I’m concerned.

So I’m pulling a Stephen King this week. In 1996 King published The Green Mile as a serial novel in six parts. And we all know what a success that novel was. Duh. Since then he’s gone on to publish several of his novels as serials. Not to mention Playboy Magazine also runs serialized novels.

So why can’t I, right?

And that’s exactly what I’ve done. Today, I’m announcing Kittyfeather Press is publishing my smokin’ hot The Manigault Vampires series as serial novels. And the first issue goes on sale TODAY. Yay!

The first erotica novel in that series (A Vampire’s Kiss) is being published in a serial newsletter named after the series (The Manigault Vampires). The first week of every month a new issue will come out containing the next two chapters in A Vampire’s Kiss. These are digital issues (like ebooks), and you can order them through PayPal directly from the site I have created for the first novel in this erotica series, A Vampire’s Kiss.

Wanna Tarot Card Reading?

Since everyone knows me as an erotica novelist and a shameless slut, it’s easy to forget I’m also a Wiccan Witch, empath, and psychic. That means I’m a deeply spiritual, woo-woo kinda person. No doubt about it. LOL

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I do tarot card readings. In fact, I don’t make a move in my career without consulting the tarot first. Why? Because the tarot is never wrong.

Never.

My trip to Boston last fall was a good example. I needed to go up in September to shoot a series of videos with my agent. And I wanted to go before it got too cold in New England. As you know, this Southern Belle does NOT like cold weather. Horrors!

The problem was Mercury had gone into retrograde in September. Okay, I also mix astrology and numerology as well as my psychic ability with my tarot card readings. When Mercury goes into retrograde everything becomes a cluster-fuck. You do NOT want to travel in airplanes during that time. So I did the tarot to see which weekends would be good for travel, trying to avoid that nasty retrograde period.

Not happening.

The tarot wanted me to travel during that time, and it particularly liked the last weekend in September. I told my agent, and he said he’d rather I come during the week. I did the cards again. Not happening. The tarot wanted me to come that weekend. Period.

At the last minute my agent’s schedule changed, and he said he could see me that weekend after all. I went up, and as you read on my blog last September it was an extremely successful trip. We got lots of work done, and my flights were all on time and perfect.

So I’m reading the tarot Sunday night, going over some aspects of my career I needed biz answers for. Suddenly, the spirits tell me it’s time to let everyone know I do tarot card readings.

What?!

Let me back up. I’ve done tarot card readings for decades, and they’re very popular with my readers/fans. That’s because I mix tarot with astrology, numerology, and my psychic ability, so my readings are incredibly accurate.

What can I say? The tarot is never wrong.

It’s been twelve years since I let all of my readers/fans know I do tarot card readings. My book schedule has just been too hectic. Usually what happens is a fan will email and ask if I do readings and could I do one for her/him? So I reply with the fees I charge and do the reading. I just never tell everybody about it.

So when I heard that from the spirits on Sunday night I felt like one of the Witches in my novels. If you’ve read my “Witchery Series” trilogy you know what they see in the cards shocks them sometimes. But the tarot is ever wrong, so they do what it advises, and so do I. You know me. I have a tendency to walk my talk.

That means I did the cards on this, and sure enough it is time for me to let everyone know I do tarot card readings. The spirits say some of you have questions about your job situation, future, income, love life, etc. And you need answers. Yeah, these are crazy times for sure.

Of course, the minute I decided to follow the tarot and tell all my readers/fans I do readings a deep peace settled on my soul.

Damn! The tarot is never wrong, ya know? It’s no wonder my offbeat career has always been a success. I let the tarot plot my every move.

Wes Fucked Up Again. Ugh!

I’m sure by now many of you have seen me hinting about this, so here are the juicy details.

When I had lunch at the mall last Tuesday with my friend Amanda she said she couldn’t believe Wes hadn’t noticed I haven’t been wearing my wedding ring for almost two weeks now. That was the first time he fucked up. The Thursday before Valentine’s Day when he complained for the third time that week about having to give me a Valentine’s Day gift.

My first thought when he did that was I’m tired of wearing my wedding ring and honoring a marriage he obviously thinks little of. Wes apologized profusely (of course) and tried to be more positive. But I’m tired of having to blow up every month or two just to get him to be nice to me. So I wasn’t in any hurry to put my ring back on. I thought I would just wait and see how long this latest effort of his lasted.

I told Amanda (and my agent when he said he was shocked, too, that Wes hadn’t noticed) it could take Wes six months to notice I’m not wearing my ring. Know why? Cause he rarely notices anything about me. I’m one of those lucky women who never has to worry about her husband cranking at her for buying clothes, because Wes doesn’t particularly like my taste in clothes (okay, I dress like my 20-something friends). And he thinks my addiction to trashy lingerie is silly, too. Thus, he never pays any attention to what I wear. Or don’t wear. Like my wedding ring.

That night he came home an hour later than usual for dinner because he’d been having too much fun with his buds after work. That meant when we went out to dinner we had a 15-minute wait to be seated.

Wes is an Alpha and a Leo, and he HATES to wait. So he immediately started complaining to me about it. The conversation got so negative I finally told him to cut the crap and tell me something positive.

“Well, if you don’t like it you can just leave,” he replies, glaring at me viciously. “You can take your books, computer, and cats and move out. I’ll be happy when you’re gone.”

Unfortunately, the thingy they gave us started flashing its little red lights, and we were seated.

“Let me get this straight,” I say after the server takes our order and walks away. “You wanna divorce me just because I’m tired of all your negative shit?”

“Yes,” he insists, glaring at me with eyes cold as stone. “I want you OUT!”

Okay, he’s worked himself into a good one this time. I wait a few minutes while he glares hatefully at me. “So you don’t want an open marriage,” I say. “You wanna divorce instead? Okay.”

He blinks. And clarity returns. “I never said that,” he replies, suddenly realizing what he’s done.

“You just told me you would be happy for me to move out,” I repeat. “Sounds like a divorce to me.”

“You know how I am,” he says, backtracking fast. “I get aggravated and say things I don’t mean.”

“Oh, I know exactly how you are,” I say, narrowing my eyes at him, thoroughly pissed. “You’re an Arrogant Alpha Asshole!”

He grabs my hand across the table, patting it, trying to make nice. It’s like he just realized it was only nine days ago he landed in the doghouse the last time, and he’s still on probation with me. Now he’s fucked up again. This time even worse.

“I stopped wearing it when you fucked up the last time,” I reply. “For the last two years it’s like I’ve gotta have a meltdown every few weeks to get you to be nice to me. So I wasn’t in any hurry to put it back on this time.”

“You haven’t been wearing your ring for two weeks?” he asks, incredulous. Then he points to his ring. “But I wear mine all the time.”

“That’s because I’ve never given you a reason NOT to wear it!” I exclaim. “Get a clue, DUDE!!”

“And now less than two weeks later you’ve said mean things to me again.” I roll my eyes. “This really encourages me to wear my ring, dontcha think? Especially after you said you’d be happy if I left.”

“Okay, I was having a fit. I can’t remember what I said.”

Yeah, Wes has been backpedaling ever since. The next day I got these text messages from him:

1.) “Sorry I acted like an ass. You didn’t deserve it.”

2.) “I think stress and alcohol made me do it. I love you and want us to stay together. I said things I didn’t mean and I’m sorry. You didn’t deserve that.”

Then he left me this note in the kitchen:

That evening he came home with roses. A week later he’s still being extra sweet to me, and I’m groovin’ on it.

First, an announcement. If you’re not on my email list (and why aren’t you? *LOL) and you come to this blog every week to read my blog posts then I’m sure you were surprised when I didn’t post on Monday.

I’ve been working 7 days a week until 2:00am every morning on “A Vampire’s Kiss.” It’s coming along beautifully. But after keeping this schedule for 2 months I’m having a hard time knowing what day it is. They’re all the same now and kinda blending together. So I made a decision last week. I’m deep in the novel at this point, which means my brain cells are not always happy about switching gears. I’ve decided instead of posting on my blog every Monday/Wednesday/Friday, I’m just going to post on Tuesday and Thursday of each week. That will give me an extra day to work on the novel and should help me finish it on time. But don’t worry. The people on my email list will still get email notifications from me on Tuesday and Thursday when the blog posts go up. There will just be two every week now instead of three.

Okay, back to the subject of this blog post. I was talking to my agent last week, and I mentioned Wes had been complaining about how expensive it is to have good sex after 50.

It’s Always All About Me & My Happiness. Duh!

One of my local girlfriends called me on Wednesday night because she was at a crossroads in her life. She’s twenty, and she’s trying to figure out what her next move will be. Almost every area of her life sucks right now, and to make matters worse, nothing she’s done career-wise has clicked for her either. Yeah, that was bumming her out, too.

The problem is she’s a creative person. But she’s under pressure from her family and society to create a traditional life for herself. Yet she knows in her heart that’s just not gonna work for her.

What it boils down to is she’s never given herself permission to do what makes her happy. And she’s not alone. I think that’s what happens to a lot of people at any age. We spend too much time thinking about what we feel we should do rather than finding a way to do what makes us happy.

When I was a teen this choice was made easy for me. Of course, at the time I didn’t see it that way. I grew up in an abusive family with parents who were mentally unstable. Mostly I was told I would never make it in life, and I would never be a success.

Of course, I didn’t believe that (LOL). But it taught me at an early age to take responsibility for my decisions. I realized with no loving family to cheer me on in life I would have to be my own cheering section.

I also decided if that was the case, then I was gonna spend my life doing whatever makes me happy. Period. It didn’t matter to me if people said it couldn’t be done. If it was my dream, I was gonna follow it and find a way to make it happen. I’d seen too many miserable adults to want that kind of life for myself.

Shivers!

And that’s exactly what I’ve done. First, I was a painter and became a successful one. Then when I was thirty I changed careers when painting no longer made me 100% happy. I became a poet and a novelist. It didn’t matter to me that I’m dyslexic. It didn’t matter to me that most small press writers make no money.

When I told my accountant I wanted to start my own small press publishing company and sell my books through direct mail, he cautioned me that most direct mail businesses fail.

That was twenty-three years ago. Once again, I didn’t listen. LOL

Oh, I crashed and burned a million times. But I looked at all of those boo-boos as learning experiences. In the process I became one of the most financially successful writers in the small press. I not only taught myself how to write, but my writer’s resume is eighty pages long now and full of awards and publication credits. Plus, more than forty-five of my books have been published, first by my company and then by other publishers.

So I told all of this to my friend. I said if you choose to do what makes you happy in life you’ve gotta learn how to crash and burn and learn from it, rather than take it personally. Decide what your dream is, and then find a way to make it happen. But realize your dream will change from decade to decade. I know mine has. Every time my dream no longer makes me happy I tweak it until it does.

If you do this, at the end of your life you’ll look back with satisfaction. Why? Because almost every day was a happy one rather than a day spent working a job you hate, while you count the years until you retire.

Shivers!

My friend laughed. “You should be a motivational speaker,” she said.

“I could be,” I replied. “But speaking doesn’t make me happy. Writing novels makes me happy. So I put lots of empowering stuff in my books, and that’s good enough.”

I mean, there are a lot of things I could do. I’ve been blessed with several talents. But only a few make me truly happy.

Life is short. I think I’ll spend it doing what makes me the happiest. That would be writing smokin’ hot erotica novels.

Oh, and having as much fun and sex as I possibly can. Can’t forget that. Duh! *sex obsessed grin*

My Books are on My New Website…Finally!

I did the coolest thing on Monday. Okay, first let me say I’m a verrrrrrry organized person. I mean, how could I write and publish over 45 books in 23 years without being organized? Duh. Plus, organization makes me kinda orgasmic.

Really.

Anyway, when I woke up on Monday morning I was suddenly fed up with the book issue on my new site. Yeah, I was not happy that my book info and links are still at my old books site at Blogger.

So I decided to do something about it. I felt it was time for all my books/series/info/links to be on the new site. And I was tired of waiting for this to happen. I’m a very patient person, but when it comes to biz I do have my limits.

Here’s why things are taking so long. My agent just spent the last 6 months buying out all my book contracts with my other publishers. Whew! Lots of changes. Anyway, his goal is for my books to be published by only one publisher, Magicomm Media.

Last week, on February 8, I signed a major contract with Magicomm Media for 10 titles (17 books in ebook and/or paperback). Magicomm Media is now in the process of publishing these books. Some are books that were published by other publishers, and some are new books/series.

As you know, my agent and Alex created this fab new website for me in October of 2009. Because of the change in publishers, my books aren’t on this site yet. They are still at my old site. So on Monday I decided to move all the info and links from the old site to this new site, so you can find my books in one place again.

Yay! Let’s hear it for organization! LOL

All you have to do now to find all my books/series is go to the top of the page to the button bar. Click on “Books.” There you will find all my series listed, as well as my memoirs and poetry books. You can also read excerpts from the “Witchery Series” novels, which is the only series of mine in print at the moment. Plus, you can read the first chapter of the vamp novel, since it was scheduled to be published last year before all the publisher craziness happened. LOL

Here’s what I used to do. Every time a new novel was published (or about to be published) I would create a Blogger blog just for that book. This blog would include information about that novel, an excerpt for your reading pleasure, and links to order the novel. It worked really well and told readers everything they needed to know about that book.

Now all that info and links to those novel blogs are here on this new site. Yay! If you wanna read about any of those novels just click on the link beneath the title, and it will take you to the blog I created for it. There you can read an excerpt, see how to order it, or read reviewer/customer comments about it.

Cool, huh?

Have I mentioned how much I love organization? Oh, I did, didn’t I? Yeah, it took me a few hours to move all this info to the new site, edit the links, and update the blogs for each book. But when I finished it was a thing of beauty.

Thursday night Wes and I went out to dinner. First, let me say Wes is one of those Uber-Alpha perfectionists who always sees the glass half empty. Really. It’s NEVER half full for the man. And since the economy has been crazy for the last two years he’s been more negative than ever. Ugh! Thus, all the meltdowns I’ve had over our marriage the last two years.

Thursday night was one of those times. After Wes had cranked about everything he could think of, he started complaining about getting me a gift for Valentine’s Day.

Let me say right now some of this is probably my fault. I’m just too easy on the man, and he’s terribly spoiled. You know how some husbands stress over the holidays, not knowing what to get their wives and hoping it will be something she likes? Not so with Wes. He knows exactly what to get me because I make it easy for him. I tell him. Plus, I’m a cheap date. Can’t get any easier than that, ya know?

And what he usually gets me is a Borders gift card or cash. Since we found out my local Waldenbooks was closing he’s been giving me cash (like at Christmas). No, I’m not one of those women insulted by cash. I can be bought. Easily. *slutty grin*

Thursday night was the third time that week he had complained about giving me cash for Valentine’s Day. I ignored the first two times because Valentine’s Day is my fav holiday of the year, and I’m not gonna let anyone rain on my parade.

But enough is enough! So the third time he complained, I blew.

My first thought was I’m not wearing my wedding ring anymore. If being married to me is so miserable, why should I be the only one to value our marriage, right?

Then I fired off three text messages to him on Friday morning, since I work late and get up after he leaves.

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE texting Wes? It’s improved the communication in our marriage 1000%. An Uber-Alpha like Wes is not an easy guy to talk to about this touchy-feely stuff. He’s very fond of telling people he “does NOT discuss.” And it’s true. Talking to him is like talking to a brick wall. No response. Or he denies everything I say.

But he has to read a text from me, so I do get my point across that way. Anyway, here are the three text messages I sent him:

1.) I’m still really pissed at u. Last night was the 3rd time this week you’ve complained about giving me $ for V-day. You’ve been giving me Borders gift cards and/or cash almost every holiday since 2007. I don’t know why ur so against it this time. So fuck it. I don’t want any gift from you.

2.) I’m really fed up with how negative you’ve been the last 2 years since the economy dipped. U complain about everything when ur around me. Ur obviously very unhappy with ur life, me & our marriage since u never have anything good to say about it. So I am declaring our marriage OPEN. Go find a woman who makes u happy. One u will be happy to fuck and give a V-day gift to. That’s obviously NOT me. We have to use condoms anyway now, so u won’t be giving me anything nasty. But I’m finished with u. Period.

3.) PS: You usually only give me a $50 Borders gift card for V-day. I don’t know why $50 is such a crime this year. But it doesn’t matter now, since I want nothing from you AND I’ve stopped wearing my wedding ring.

An hour later Wes walks though the door. I’m in the kitchen eating breakfast and feeding the cats. Okay, it’s noon, but cut me some slack…I worked until 3:00am that morning. lol

“I’m sorry I’m so awful to live with,” Wes says, looking at me warily, like I might attack him. Good. He needs to keep his distance when I’m this pissed.

“I see you got my text messages,” I reply, glaring at him while I munch on pecans.

“I don’t want to split up,” he replies, walking toward me and folding me into his arms. Brave man.

“Could’ve fooled me,” I snort. “You don’t make me feel wanted or loved. Complaining about giving me a Valentine’s Day gift is reallllllly low. Besides, $50 is chicken feed, and you know it. I should have asked for $500.”

“I’m sorry,” he says. I let him kiss my cheek, but I don’t look happy about it.

“So you wanna date other women and find one who makes you happy?” I shrug. “Fine with me. I could care less.”

“No, I don’t want to date other woman.”

“Well, you’re one miserable guy being married to me,” I say. “All you do is bitch and complain around me. Do you save this up all day just for me? Or are you this way with everyone? I doubt it.” I narrow my eyes at him. “BTW, I hate your guts right now.”

“I know,” he says, hugging me tightly. “I deserve that.”

“You’ve been negative and depressing for the last two years. I can’t stand it anymore. Go find some other woman to torture with this crap.”

Wes apologizes again. Turns out he came home to ask if we needed anything from the store, since a major snowstorm was supposed to hit the city that afternoon. He didn’t read my text messages until he pulled into the driveway. I told him we had everything we needed, so he put fresh batteries in the flashlights and left to meet his buds for lunch. Then he went to his fav bar to watch ballgames the rest of the day.

That evening a friend with a 4-wheel drive SUV brought him home in the middle of the snowstorm. We both drive Camrys, and his friend thought he wouldn’t be able to make it home in his car with the snow piling up like an inch per hour.

After he takes a shower he corners me in the hallway. “I don’t want an open marriage,” he says. “I don’t want to fuck other women.”

“You sure?” I ask. “Totally works for me. We use condoms, so it’s not like you’re gonna give me a STD.”

Wes just growls, and the next thing I know he backs me up against the wall. His hands are under the Led Zep t-shirt I’m wearing, and he’s pinching my nipples.

Vampire Sex for Valentine’s Day!

Whew! What a busy week. On Monday night I signed a major contract with my agent and new publisher for 10 titles (17 books total in ebook and/or paperback, some new, some to be republished).

The rest of this week I’ve been working my ass off on the vampire novel (A Vampire’s Kiss: Book One of the Manigault Vampires).

All I can say is this is gonna be an awesome novel when I finish it. But I have to laugh when I talk about it. Sara and Dray refused to follow my outline when I wrote the first draft back in 2009. And they are staying true to form by not following their own first draft. Seriously. They’ve been cutting up chapters and adding chapters and lengthening the book. The last chapter they added (Chapter 14) is a smokin’ hot sex scene. Yeah, sizzling vamp sex. Yummy!

But I’m not surprised. Those two have a scorching hot chemistry. They can barely stand to be in the same room with each other without wanting to fuck.

In fact one of my fans and very dear friends, Mahlet, sent me a video link last weekend because it reminded her of Dray and Sara.
