Can Reading Erotica Improve Your Marriage? Absolutely!
Someone at Amazon finally started an erotica group. Yay! Much to my delight, I discovered it a few days ago and started posting immediately on that board.
I used to be very active in the romance and paranormal romance groups at Amazon, but got so involved with Goodreads I don’t post on those Amazon boards anymore. Plus, many of my readers/fans/friends from those Amazon groups are now at Goodreads, so I really have the best of both worlds when it comes to networking with fans of those genres at Goodreads. Anyway, when I was active on Amazon I had searched for an erotica group but couldn’t find one in their tags, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to see someone finally created one this year for the fans and addicts of erotica.
As I was scrolling through new and old threads on this erotica board I discovered one asking whether anyone 55-65 was as miserable in his marriage as he was? Then someone responded, wondering how this thread is related to erotica?
Hmm. It immediately made me think about how the ladies in my group at Goodreads (The Goodreads Purvettes) often talk about how reading erotica has improved their sex lives and their marriages. It’s no secret those who read erotica tend to become more adventurous in their sex lives. It’s also no surprise most men are turned on by sexually adventurous women. Kinda like most men get a thrill from exhibitionism and dirty talk, even if they don’t do it themselves.
As an erotica novelist, I can’t ignore this. Knowing some of my readers use my erotic novels as sex manuals just makes me more determined than ever to write responsibly. It has always been my policy to include only those sexual positions, techniques, kink, etc., in my erotic novels that I have personally "tested" myself.
Don’t you love how almost everything I talk about leads me back to my fav subject?…..Research!! Yeah, I looooooove research (wicked grin). But I also take it very seriously where my novels are concerned. So rest assured, every sex scene in my erotic novels and novellas has been personally tested by yours truly.
And who knows? Maybe the fun stuff in my sex scenes will improve the quality of your marriage when you give these techniques a "test drive." Maybe they’ll add more fun and zing to your sex life. If anything they’ll make you feel realllllly good. Hey, just ask me. *naughty grin*
