Calling All Brain Cells!!

Whew!  I’m suffering from a realllllly low brain-cell count today.  That’s because I used every last one of those critters to write the August issue of my monthly newsletter yesterday (The Faery Cat Newsletter).  But I’m very pleased with it, and it will be going out today, so look for it in your inbox.  If you’re not a subscriber and would like to be, send me an email at laurastamps@mindspring.com and I’ll send it to you ASAP.  I suppose I should warn you every issue is getting a bit naughtier, but you would expect that from me, right?  *wicked smile*

I had major fun at lunch yesterday with Melissa, who looked absolutely lovely in a pretty summer dress with matching accessories.  She really is a gorgeous person inside and out.  And her husband was able to join us, too.  Awesome!  It’s always a pleasure (and an unusual experience for me) to be around Beta men.  Love those guys.  Melissa and I managed to do a little shopping, too.  She bought a bottle of Realm for Women, the sex pheromone perfume I’ve been raving about.  Can’t wait to hear how it affects her sweet hubby.  And I took advantage of a killer sale at Belk.  I found two black babydolls in the lingerie department to add to my collection, since I now know my husband’s fav color in sexy lingerie.  I’ll be test-driving one tonight, a slinky number with a see-through bodice.  Yummy!  It’ll be interesting to see if he lets it stay on me longer than five minutes, which is his record at the moment.  *lusty grin*

Currently, I’m reading Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon.  It’s been a year or more since I’ve read a hardcover novel, especially a big tome like this one weighing in at 728 pages.  It reminds me of how much I love trade paperback novels.  Not only is the font size the same as a hardcover, but they’re smaller and lighter, not to mention easier to tote in my backpack purse.  Yup, the fact that my novel series are published in trade paperback makes me a very happy woman indeed.  Of course most of the novels I read these days are trade paperback size since that is the fav size of erotica publishers (okay, I admit it, I’m an erotica-addict and proud of it *naughty grin*).  I’ve never been a fan of the tiny mass market size, but I do like the new longer look for mass markets, because the font is larger and easer to read.  I have no idea how they’ll publish Acheron when it goes into paperback in a year or so.  If they go mass market like they have with every other novel in that series the thing will be as big and heavy as a small sub sandwich.  Ha!

Now I’m off to do the final tweaks on the newsletter.  Hey, how did you like that kinky sex toy link I posted yesterday?  Find anything fun on it?  If so, let me know.  I haven’t had a chance to go through the site and check everything out, but I’m looking forward to it.  Plus, I found a new sex pheromone perfume site yesterday while I was researching for the newsletter.  I post that one later, too.  And if you find any of my missing brain cells wandering around, tell them to go home.  I could really use them today.  No kidding.

xoxo

Hey, Laura! I’m Jeneral over at GoodReads. Just wanted to say hi over here before I add you as a friend!

I’m going to try to write out my review of Acheron for GoodReads in the next day or two. I think I’m still at the incoherent fangirl-flail stage, which I’m kind of enjoying because it’s been a long time since a book’s made me do that.

I’m planning on ordering your books when I get some birthday money next month, hurrah! I’ll be sure and let you know so I can get them autographed.

    Take care!

    Hi, Jeneral (big wave!)–

Wonderful to see you here, and thanks for the add!!

I can totally relate to what you said about Ash’s book, and I look forward to your review. I am on page 319 at the moment so I’m still chin-deep in pain and suffering. But I am looking foraward to the second half of the book, because I hear it is AWESOME!!! And I have always been a fan of Ash (what a YUMMY guy, right?!), so I like how this one is answering so many questions I have had about him and his past. You know, comments he would make about that in other novels in the series.

I’m thrilled you will be ordering my novels next month. Thanks and happy “early” birthday to you (big smile)!! You know you can order signed copies from me with free shipping, right? Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Much love to you, and I am so happy to see you here at LJ!! As soon as I finish this I am going to pop over to your LJ blog and add you as a friend, too. Big fun!

I will say that all the pain and suffering in Acheron started to get a little old for me; painfully close to some kind of parody where I was expecting a piano to fall on his head next, if you know what I mean. :-) But then everything turns on a dime and it gets SO GOOD. And by the end, you really do see how all the slogging through the suffering is worth it.

I’m actually a little bummed, because I was supposed to go to a Kenyon booksigning tonight, but with the tropical storm dumping so much rain, I don’t really feel up to driving the 75+ mile round-trip.

    Talk to you soon!

  4. laura_stamps8 Says:

Yeah, I’m glad you felt that way too. As an author, I get a little impatient with it, because I know it’s just a device she is using to move the plot along, but it is getting so old and predictable like you said.

I was just thinking about you and Fay. It is very windy here today because of the storm. The door on the screen porch has been banging and irritating the kitties that sleep there in the sun. But at least the sun is out. Up in SC we are always in that northern “finger” of the storm that gets the bad windy stuff. But so far so good!

Total bummer about the Kenyon booksigning!! I was supposed to have lunch with Melissa today, but because of the storm I moved it back to yesterday just in case. BTW, she is on Goodreads and just posted an awesome review of “What Witches Want.” Check it out when you get a chance. I met Melissa for the first time last month when she camne to my booksigning at Waldenbooks. One of my other Goodreads friends (Jen Pressley) in upstate SC had told her about the booksigning (she met her not on Goodreads but on a romance novel chat). Melissa came and bought both of my novels and became a fan and now a good friend. Cool how those things work out!

I just love the way Acheron looks on my bookshelf. But I expect it will be the size of a sub sandwich when it is put in paperback.

Lunch was totally a blast…we must do it again some time :)

Thanks for the sweet compliments…I really appreciate it! You are a blessing to me :) Thanks for all your positive energy and words of wisdom!

No feedback on the Realm yet…I got in late last night and didn’t want to try it out yet…wanting to try it out when both Hubby and I are well-rested…so hopefully soon :) We’ve both had some crazy schedules this week!!! But we’ll probably be at it like bunnies this weekend :)

Hope you are having a great day :)

Interesting you should mention “bunnies” (see the title of my post today…do oversexed minds think alike or what?!). *wicked grin*

No problem. But I want a full report on the Realm when you give it a test-drive!!!
