The Sex Goddess Returns to Dalton

I had an absolute blast at my high school reunion this weekend. Yes, I did! And if you’ve seen some of the reunion pics of me circulating on Facebook, you know it’s true. LOL

In fact, that’s why I joined Facebook this summer. One of my best friends from high school, Angie Flack (who now lives in NC), got me to join FB and told me about the reunion. I soon discovered there was not only a group for the reunion at FB, but also a group for my high school, so I joined both. Totally cool!

Lots of people have asked why it was a 34-year reunion? Odd number, I know. But it was actually the 35-year reunion of the Class of 1974. Dalton is a small town in the southern Appalachian Mountains in north Georgia, situated 30 minutes south of Chattanooga, TN. Dalton has grown like crazy in the last three decades, but back then our high school was small, so the class of 1974 decided to invite the classes of 1973 and 1975 (mine) to join in this reunion. Great idea, because about 280+ people registered for this combined classes reunion, and we had an awesome crowd on Saturday night.

Wes and I left Columbia, SC, around 9:30 on Saturday morning. It was a gorgeous, warm, sunny day. And, yes, I did terrorize the man with my fav classic rock CDs (Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Bad Company, and Zep) the entire time. In fact I was wearing one of my fav Zep t-shirts that I’d cut off to show my stomach, as well as a pair of hip-hugging jeans and black boots.

It took about 6 hours to get to Dalton, which has changed so much in the 24 years since my 10-year reunion that I hardly recognized it. We checked into the LaQuinta and then headed out to Rocky Face, GA, for the reunion party at the Renz farm.

It started at 2:00 with the Georgia football game on a big screen TV and hysterically funny races on motorized toilets. No kidding. You had to see it to believe it. What a hoot! LOL

The place was packed, and from the moment we arrived at 4:30 and registered for our name tags I saw old friends. Pretty soon I was surrounded by my wild-girl friends like Denise Newton and JoEllen Middleton. Unfortunately, my friend Angie couldn’t come. She had to work. Bummer! But I carried her in my pocket. Kinda. She wanted me to text pics and let her know what was happening. And I did take a bunch of pics. But somehow I only found one. Actually, I’m still looking for them. The good thing is lots of people had digital cameras, so tons of great reunion pics started appearing on Facebook Sunday night.

I had a fabulous time chatting with Shane Quarles, Pat Lowery, Anne Smith, and so many friends I haven’t seen since the 10-year reunion in 1985. It was wonderful. And they immediately adopted Wes and made sure he always had someone to talk to, while I ran around, tormenting everyone I could find with my raging hot libido. What FUN!!!

Finally the football game ended, and barbeque was served. No, I didn’t eat any. But vegetarians are resourceful, and I filled my plate with potato salad, taco chips, and a slice of pound cake. Yummy!

Afterwards the band played awesome sets of classic rock and funky dance music. The lead singer and guitarist was David Rogers. Dear Goddess, I had such a crush on that man in high school! This time I told him. Of course. You would expect no less of me, right? But the man was gorgeous back then! Tall, lean, long brown hair, sweet Beta personality. Totally drool-worthy, and he still is at 53.

As promised, I danced for hours and shook my ass to every great dance tune. Once again, Wes really lucked out. Much to his delight, my crazy girlfriends danced with me, so he only had to dance one time when Anne Smith pulled him out on the dance floor. Too funny! Good thing I had completely recovered from my cold because the temp plummeted when the sun went down, and I was soaked from dancing so much.

I finally took mercy on Wes, and we left around 9:30. When I got back to the hotel room I collapsed and slept like a log. In fact Wes woke up almost two hours before I did Sunday morning, but he let me sleep in. And I needed it. When I finally regained consciousness I was still wasted and spent the day in a fog. I don’t think I really woke up until 8:00 Sunday night. LOL

Yeah, I couldn’t have asked for a better reunion. Even the weather was perfect. On Friday it had been rainy and cold in Dalton, but by Saturday the temps were in the high 70s, and the sun was bright in a clear blue sky.

Oh, and if you’re on Facebook and saw the pic of me with my shirt pulled up, showing my stomach I can’t take credit for that bit of exhibitionism. Rats! It just happened when my friend Anne Smith hugged me for a camera shot. I think Pat took that one. LOVE it!

This week I’m back from another traveling weekend and hard at work on the new website. I just got an email from Alex, and she tells me she plans for the site to go live next week. We’ve been working hard to get my blog up and running on it first, so that’s what you’ll see next week. Yeah, it’s the new home for not only my books but also my naughty blog. I’ll let you know when that happens.

Stay tuned….!! ;)

xoxo
