Two Joes and My Wild Girl
The last week has certainly been my week for local celebrities. No kidding. A few days before I left for the wedding in Charleston I got an email from someone I haven’t talked with since the 80s. Joe Pinner. Some of you remember him as "Mr. Knozit" from his kid show. I know Joe through the noon talk show he co-hosted back then called "Carolina Today." In 1986 I was still a fulltime artist. A local gallery had commissioned me to do a painting for one of the Bicentennial posters for Columbia. If you live in Columbia you’ve probably seen it, but you didn’t realize that Laura Stamps was me. It’s called "Watching the Main Street Trolley" and depicts the State House and Main Street in the early 1900s.
The last part of the research I did for it involved me standing in the middle of Main Street with a camera, shooting the State House at that angle, while the Uber stood on the sidewalk, yelling at me to run every time a car came down the street. And you know how busy Main Street is. Yeah, I did a LOT of running before I got all the shots I needed to paint that painting. Now you can see the poster everywhere in Columbia. It hangs in local businesses, restaurants, the State Museum, government buildings, and in many offices of the Senators and Representatives in the State House. The original painting still hangs in my living room.
Anyway, I had been the "Artist of the Week" several times on Joe’s show, and he owns one of those posters. He emailed because he has been asked to donate the poster for a charity auction, and he wanted to know how much it’s worth now. I told him $500.
The wedding in Charleston was actually a society wedding (another reason for the formalwear). Lots of Charleston blue-bloods and local celebrities were in attendance there, including Charleston’s famous mayor, Joe Riley. I don’t know him, but I did bump into him (literally) at the reception. We were standing in a crowd, and I backed up into him. When I did, I grabbed his arm to steady him and said, "Sorry about that." I hope I didn’t cause him to spill a drink on himself or something. Yikes! Anyway, he just looked at me kinda dazed with his mouth open. I didn’t think anything about it at the time. That seems to be a common reaction to me no matter what I do. LOL
Sorry to say no new pickle book news to report. The Uber kept giggling and batting my hand away from his pickle last night, telling me he was too old and too tired for any playtime. Bummer. Oh well, maybe I’ll get lucky tonight. In the meantime I’ve noticed something about me that would scare the we-willies out of the Uber if he knew. I think I’m becoming sexually insatiable (hey, no snickering!). Seriously, something is happening I never expected. It seems the more sex I have, the hornier I get. You’d think it would take the edge off, wouldn’t you? Nope, just makes me want MORE! Kinda like you can’t eat just one potato chip. You want the whole bag. Only when it comes to sex I want the entire grocery store chain. Uh-oh. Obviously, my wild girl wants to come out and play, and play, and play, and….
Tell you what. Let’s make this our little secret. If the Uber knew he would freak for sure. He thinks I’m bad enough as it is. I know. I’m soooooo baaaaaaad, and loving every minute of it! *lusty grin*

Sounds like your Uber needs to step up his maintenance schedule with you 
Then again, that could totally wear him out and cause you to have to go without for awhile! What’s a girl to do? 
I actually have my own little play date tonight. Hubby has surgery tomorrow, so I have to get my maintenance in before he’s out for the count for awhile

You must be psychic! LOL Actually, I just came back from Waldenbooks. “Call of the Witches” came out on Monday. I wanted to wait until today to go by to give the distributors time to get it, so Yancy can order it. So far it isn’t on their computer yet, but he is going to try again to order it this afternoon. Hopefully, he can, so he can get it in by next Saturday and the booksigning. It’s going to be tight, but we just might make it!!
In any case I do have a copy (the printer’s proof) and will bring it with me to the booksigning. It is gorgeous! Just a beautiful cover and looks so pretty on the shelf with the other two in the trilogy.
Much love to hubby tomorrow with his surgery. Awesome his recovery time will be so quick!!
BTW, I saw you joined the Purvettes at Goodreads but haven’t seen you posting there yet. We are a wild bunch for sure. Did I tell you I’m one of the mods of that group? Yeah, now you know how rowdy we are. *naughty grin*

I was so hoping you were going to say that they had it in stock
I wanted something good to read while I am at the hospital tomorrow waiting during Jason’s surgery. It would have been perfect too…just in time for my birthday on Saturday! Ah well, guess I will have to look through some other options!
I haven’t had a lot of time lately to checking out the Purvettes too often. I have been super busy here lately with the surgery coming up. You’ll probably see me posting there in the future though

I know. Too bad it isn’t at Waldens yet. You’ll love it….it’s a very horny book. The first really hot sex scene starts on page 45. I kid you not. And it’s one of many, the last one ending on the last page of the book. Can you say “scorching hot!” (LOL) If you were reading it at the hospital you would have had to cross your legs a lot and squeeze for relief. *naughty grin*
Oh, well. It is much later than I thought it would be, because of some personal and scheduling problems my publisher had this summer. But you know me. Whenever it gets here I believe it will be perfect timing, so I’m just going with the flow and staying chilled.
Happy birthday to you too! I got a b-day notice about it at LJ this morning and sent happy thoughts your way. Hopefully, you can get “Call of the Witches” as a late birthday present for yourself when it comes in next week.

G.L. and I really lucked out. The mall is having some kind of women’s thing that Saturday with makeovers and all kinds of stuff. So the mall will be packed with women. *happy dance, happy dance!*
Speaking of G.L., she has been cracking me up. Ever since the last booksigning she’s been doing the “10/4, Good Buddy” thing to me. She is a hoot!

Ren Faire is right outside of Charlotte, NC. It will be there until some time in Nov. It’s major fun
Sounds like you should have lots of women to introduce your books too
