I loved CALL OF THE WITCHES just as much as WHAT WITCHES WANT. A great read! Quick reading and likeable characters who in the end feel more like your friends than people in a story.

The story is written in the present tense, which I really enjoyed because it puts you in the place of the characters. Another thing I enjoyed were the descriptions throughout the story, which are phenomenal … so many times I read something and could see it clearly in my mind. The writing style and vivid descriptions let you feel you are living the life of the main character, Maylene Whitmire. How she copes with meeting a great guy and a celibacy vow that will not allow her to get closer to said hunky guy.

For those looking for a book with limited amount of sex scenes like WHAT WITCHES WANT, this one has quite a bit more, but it does not distract from the storyline. The scenes are hot and steamy, as well as well written. Now if I were Maylene I would have stocked up on panty shields when Blaine was around or at least carry a couple extra pairs of panties… things got a bit juicy between them.

There are spells, invocations/incantations, rituals sprinkled throughout the book. These things are part of Maylene’s Wiccan faith, so they enhance the storyline, and are interesting to those of us who do not know a lot about the faith. There’s a Handfasting ritual in the story which was quite beautiful. I felt as if I were there witnessing it along with the characters in the book.

Even if you have not read the first two books of the trilogy, you will have no problem picking up this book and reading it. Although the same characters show up, you pick up their relationship quite easy. Look forward to reading Ms. Stamps new series THE MANIGAULT VAMPIRES next year!
