“Sex Magick is Book One of the Rune Witch Series by Laura Stamps. “Bewitched at the Beach is Book #2 in the Rune Witch trilogy, and it picks up where Book #1 leaves off (you have to read these in order to get the full effect). Noelle and Wynn have an opportunity to spend a long weekend at a luxury beach house at Hilton Head, S.C., courtesy of Wynn’s boss, Dray (A Vampire’s Kiss). Of course they jump at this opportunity for some R&R, and Wynn uses this alone time with Noelle to convince her to marry him.  I really enjoyed this short but very sexy read. It’s filled with humor (Noelle is good with the wise-cracks and teasing put-downs), some verrry hot sex (a hot tub scene, and some nearly exhibitionist sex in the ocean–Noelle and Wynn are very daring) and some vivid, atmospheric descriptions of the beach house and surrounding area that made me imagine that I was there (how I wish!). We learn a little bit about the reason behind Noelle’s reluctance to marry, we get to enjoy Wynn’s (I love this easy going, beta hero) relentless pursuit to get a “yes” out of Noelle, and it was hot! On a side note, let me call attention to the cover–this is one cover that perfectly depicts the H/h, right down to Noelle’s navel ring (can’t tell if that’s a dangling skull, though) and her black bikini–although where are Wynn’s loud and flowered swim trunks?!:) Great effort by LS–can’t wait to read the next one (The Harvest Moon) to see if a wedding is in this sexy couple’s future!”  (Cheryl, PA)

Can you tell me a little about yourself?

Sure. I’m a shameless slut, exhibitionist (BTW, have you seen my lingerie pics at Facebook? *kinky grin*), and voyeur addicted to lust, trashy lingerie, sex, and men’s dangly parts. I’m like the living version of one of the heroines in an erotica novel. I don’t just write this sex stuff. I live it.

Oh, wait! You wanted my official “author” bio, didn’t you? Sorry! Okay, I’m an award-winning erotica and paranormal romance novelist, whose blog is wickedly naughty (gee, what a surprise!). My work has been published in over a thousand magazines, literary journals, and anthologies worldwide. The recipient of a Pulitzer Prize nomination and seven Pushcart Award nominations, I’m the author of more than forty-five books. A Wiccan Faery Witch, Empath, and Psychic, I enjoy writing novels about contemporary Pagans living in the Deep South. Because I portray Pagans realistically, my novels are full of real spells, chants, and rituals.  You’ll also find romance and HOT sex in my books. Why? Because I’m totally oversexed and LOVE it (gee, what a surprise!).

Who are my publishers? A more accurate question would be who are my publishers “at the moment”? The last year has been insane for me in that one of my publishers suddenly went out of biz in March 2009, I got a new agent in June 2009, I signed a contract with a new publisher in February 2010, parted ways with my new agent in March 2010, and started publishing again with Kittyfeather Press in March 2010. Helluva a year, huh? *lmao* But at this moment, on April 22, 2010, my novels are published by Kittyfeather Press and Trytium Publishing. See? It’s definitely a moment to moment thing for me. Really. lol

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been a fulltime, professional writer for 23 years.

Can you tell us a bit about The Witchery Series?

It’s a sexy paranormal romance novel series in paperback at the moment (remember, that’s the key phrase for me) but should be coming out in ebook in July. In this series you’ll meet five wonderful Witches: Savannah, Maylene, Mirabella, Noelle, and Ravena. There’s something for everyone in this trilogy. The novels range from empowering to romantic to erotic. You’ll also find real spells, chants, and rituals in each one. Big fun! I wrote this series because I wanted to show people what real Witches and Pagans are like, since we’ve gotten such bad press for the last 2000+ years. I also wanted to show people how incredibly sex Pagan men are. So I have yummy, hunky Witches, Pagans, two-natured Fey (yes, they do exist), psychic vampires (yes, they do exist), vampires, and shapeshifters in this series.

Can you tell us about the serial novel A Vampire’s Kiss and The Manigault Vampires Series?

The Manigault Vampires is a serialized, romantic erotica series in ebook. The first novel in this series is A Vampire’s Kiss. In this series, you’ll meet Drayton Manigault, the owner of Manigault Technologies and one of the richest businessmen in Columbia, South Carolina. Dray also happens to be one of the oldest vampires in the city. All the Witches in The Witchery Series novels return in this series for lots of erotic, vampy fun with Dray, Val (Dray’s older brother), and Atwell Gibbs (their cousin). Did I mention how gorgeous these vamps are? Oh, yeah, they’re smokin’ HOT in and out of the bedroom. Trust me! *lusty grin*

Because of the publisher chaos I have endured the last 16 months, I ended up going that long without a new novel being published. HORRORS! Not to mention there were six finished books of mine waiting to be published during that time. Yeesh! So to treat my long-suffering fans I released the vamp series as a monthly serial through Kittyfeather Press. It’s like a sexy, X-rated vamp fix the first week of every month when each new installment is published. Yummmmmmy!

If you couldn’t tell by my name, I’m a bit of a vampire fan, what is your favorite paranormal being?

Damn, that’s a tough one. I almost said a “hard” one, but you told me to stay PG for this interview, and that’s one of those word-triggers for me, so…. *lol* I adore the shapeshifter, Wynn, in The Rune Witch Series. But I would have to say vamps are my favs. Vamps are sex-on-a-stick, and their bite gives you an instant O. I mean, what’s not to like? Duh!

Who are your favorite authors? What about your favorite movies?

Emma Holly, Kathy Love (her 2 vamp series are awesome), Sherrilyn Kenyon, Delilah Devlin (HAWT cowboy erotica), and Lora Leigh (Bound Hearts series). Fav movie? Underworld ROCKS!!!

What is your best birthday memory? Just in case let’s keep it PG-13. LOLHow did you know I was thinking HOT b-day sex? Oh, you read my naughty blog posts for the two weeks before and after my b-day this year on April 2, didn’t you? Whew! Can you say “Sexfest”? Oh, yeah… *sex-obsessed grin*

What are you working on right now?

When I’m not writing my monthly e-newsletter, or email mailings to my list, or weekly blog posts, or my “Dear SexWitch” sex advice column in Witches & Pagans magazine, I’m working on the vamp series. Like every day. Series novelists are strange creatures. If we go too many days without working on one of our series we’ll need serious meds. Being that I’m already delusional and always think I’m 18, I try to avoid the men in white coats and work on my series every day. Yesterday was a good example. I keep vampire hours, working until 3-4:00am, crashing, then waking up at noon, and starting all over again. But yesterday was my monthly acupuncture treatment, and it’s at 11:00am. SHIVERS! So I was awake yesterday for 20 hours. And I got 11 hours of writing in: 6 hours to write the April issue of my newsletter, and 5 hours of writing on the vamp series. The Manigault Vampires series is unique in that it is unlimited, so I spend a lot of time on it. Do you have any upcoming appearances?

Not at the moment (amazing how that word keeps popping up, isn’t it? Of course, “popping up” sounds good too. Yummmy! But I digress…). Anyway, I used to do booksignings every month at my local Waldenbooks. But Borders closed 200 of their 300 Waldenbooks and Borders Express stores in January, and that was one of them. Bummer, cause I met some cool fans there from around the country. Plus, it’s in the mall, and the eye candy in the Deep South (I live in South Carolina) is AWESOME! Hunky guys of all ages with long gorgeous hair. Yumm! Sometimes I would be so enthralled with all the tasty male flesh walking by in the mall I’d forget I was there to sell books. Oops! Okay, so I’m a cougar. But that’s a good thing, right? lol

In fact Kittyfeather Press publishing the vamp series in ebook marks a MAJOR turning point in my career.  Yeah, this slut is finally positioned to take off and zoom into the stratosphere.

Seriously though, going back to Kittyfeather is a giant step on my career path.  Kittyfeather Press is my publishing company, and the one that has always sold the most books for me.  It’s the publisher that made me one of the most financially successful of the small press novelists and poets.  I founded it in 1988, and it wasn’t until 2005 that I began allowing other publishers to sell and distribute my books.

What can I say?  Five years later I’m not terribly happy with this arrangement and all the disasters I’ve managed to survive with a few of these publishers.

So I’ve decided to take back some control by giving the vampire series to Kittyfeather to publish as serial ebooks.

Because Kittyfeather is my company that means it moves fast like me, and everything it does is unusual and different.  I know, but I can’t help it.  Being “normal” is such a snooze.  LOL

In the course of the conversation he says: “When I tell people about you, I always say you’re the most honest person I know.”

I laugh and thank him for the compliment. “Well,” I reply. “I am what I am. What you see is what you get with me. I’m the same in person as I am on the web.”

“I know,” he agrees. “I admire that about you because it’s so unusual.”

It may be unusual, but to me it’s a no-brainer. Growing up in a dysfunctional home, I realized right quick (as we say in the Deep South *LOL) how important it is to build a nourishing life that lets you be who you are.

Unfortunately, I think there’s too much pressure on women to be something we’re not. We’re supposed to be thinner. We’re supposed to look younger. We’re supposed to be prettier. We’re supposed to be richer. We’re NOT supposed allow our lusty inner slut have a voice. We’re NOT supposed to be kinky and love it. And so on…

I’m not saying you shouldn’t live a healthy lifestyle and tone your bod with regular exercise. You know I’m totally into that. But what I am saying is you do the best you can with what you’ve got, and that’s good enough!

I’ve always been a firm believer in pursuing my dreams as well. I mean, why shouldn’t I? Why shouldn’t anyone? If my career gets to the point where it no longer excites me, I tweak it until I love it again. Who cares if it means I take a pay cut for a while? I’ll be making good money soon enough, doing what I love. Hey, it’s more important to me to pursue my dreams, have fun every day, and work a job I enjoy. Who wants to go to a job that feels like drudgery? Horrors! Life is too short for that kind of torture, ya know?

That also means I have to take giant leaps of faith on a regular basis that scare the shit outta me. But those kinds of calculated risks are par for the course if you make it your life’s work to pursue your dreams.

Then my agent and I discussed Twitter. Alex set up that account for me in October. But I’ve been too slammed with the new website, new publisher, book biz, and working on the vamp novel to spend any time at Twitter until a few weeks ago.

“You know what really pisses me off?” I ask.

He laughs. “I know of a few things.”

“It’s those book biz experts on Twitter who think I’m a brainless twit because I write erotica and I’ve chosen to remain in the small press for my entire 22 year career.”

They have no idea how financially successful you can be in the small press if you’re an author who knows how to market and sell. Seriously, they don’t have a clue.

“Fuck ‘em,” he replies. “And not in a good way.”

“That’s exactly what I said!” I exclaim.

And it’s true. I am what I am. Twitter isn’t Facebook. I can be my sexy, slutty self on FB, and my fans love it.

But Twitter is a whole new ballgame. You’ve got a bunch of stuffy book biz people tweeting among themselves. Don’t get me wrong. What they say is fascinating if you love the book biz and bookselling as much as I do. But few of them will give the time of day to an erotica novelist.

And then the whole erotica scene over there is different. It takes a while to find erotica fans and bloggers who won’t freak over sexy talk about hunky guys and the lusty novels we read. For lack of a better word Twitter is kinda neutered and prudish when it comes to erotica.

Horrors!

“Plus,” I continue. “I’ve only been there two weeks. I’m still learning Twitter. But I found out today I’ve already been blocked.”

“Oh, no,” my agent groans. “By Twitter?” Okay, I have a history of online censoring. But I’m getting better at staying one step ahead of the web censors. Really, I am. LOL

“Nah,” I reply. “She’s one of those snotty book biz experts.”

“Fuck her,” he replies. “You can’t please everyone. You’re different than most erotica novelists. You have to be who you are. That’s always been your strategy, and it’s a good one for Twitter as well.”

“That’s exactly what I said after I realized what she’d done,” I reply. No wonder I love this guy so much!!

Who knows why she blocked me? Could be because she doesn’t like sex or erotica or Witches. Maybe she thinks all erotica novelists are brainless twits.

Who cares? Not me.

I am what I am, and I’m having a blast at Twitter now cause I finally found a bunch of readers/fans/bloggers who love erotica and sex as much as I do. They’re cool and don’t freak over the lusty way I talk about hunky guys, jogging while wearing my nipple jewelry, sexy books, etc.

Okay, back to sex toys. One of my Twitter friends mentioned a “sybain” last week. I didn’t know what that was, so he told me to google it.

Before I go any further, yes, I’m having a blast on Twitter. Alex set up my Twitter account in October. It was a lot of work, but also major fun gathering the cool stuff I’ve raved about in my blog posts in one convenient place for my readers. Of course, many of those items brought back memories.

Like the nipple jewelry and clips.

If you know me, you know my kink is not BDSM. So the clips in my store are not the painful clamps used most often in pleasure/pain BDSM. It was like a neon sign shouting to anyone who saw me (like my mother) that I was a “sick, twisted freak” (Wes’s fav thing to call me…in fact he called me that tonight *LOL).

To make matters worse, my yearly physical was the next week. That meant I had to come up with a good explanation for how those scratches got there in case the doc asked me about them. Yeah, being a closet kinkster is never easy, especially at 12 (LOL). The story I invented involved a swimming accident at the country club pool. Don’t remember all the details, but the doc must have bought my story because I didn’t get in trouble that time.

Whew!

From what I hear, this kind of behavior is normal for boys. But not so much for little girls. Some of my men friends who know about my early childhood kink have asked me if I knew what I was doing back then. Nah, I didn’t. I didn’t know about sex or sex organs or orgasms. All I knew was that I had discovered a way to make myself feel reallllly good, and I wanted that pleasure every night. Sex obsessed at 12? Oh, yeah, that would be me. *lusty grin*

By the time I was 18, I had a boyfriend and was sexually active. Nothing like a guy to scratch your itch, ya know? Plus, I’d discovered exhibitionism and voyeurism. EUREKA! That first sex-in-a-public-place episode did it for me. I knew this was my kink for sure.

But choosing nipple jewelry for my sex shop brought back those early BDSM memories.

Funny, isn’t it? I don’t think many women have childhood memories of being obsessed with BDSM at 7 years old. Not the kind of thing you can talk about at a family gathering, is it? But then I’ve always been a little strange.

The first person who posts the correct answer will be awarded 1 point (don’t worry, I’ll keep track of everyone’s points).
