First, an announcement. If you’re not on my email list (and why aren’t you? *LOL) and you come to this blog every week to read my blog posts then I’m sure you were surprised when I didn’t post on Monday.

That’s because I mentioned in the February issue of my newsletter last week that I’m making a change on my blog. I’ve been working 7 days a week until 2:00am every morning on “A Vampire’s Kiss.” It’s coming along beautifully. But after keeping this schedule for 2 months I’m having a hard time knowing what day it is. They’re all the same now and kinda blending together. So I made a decision last week. I’m deep in the novel at this point, which means my brain cells are not always happy about switching gears. I’ve decided instead of posting on my blog every Monday/Wednesday/Friday, I’m just going to post on Tuesday and Thursday of each week. That will give me an extra day to work on the novel and should help me finish it on time. But don’t worry. The people on my email list will still get email notifications from me on Tuesday and Thursday when the blog posts go up. There will just be two every week now instead of three.

Okay, back to the subject of this blog post. I was talking to my agent last week, and I mentioned Wes had been complaining about how expensive it is to have good sex after 50.

And it is for Wes. He needs Viagra and testosterone shots. Plus, his high blood pressure meds make the ph of his semen toxic to my bladder, meaning we have to use condoms and lube now or I’ll get a nasty UTI.

I Am What I Am. Uh-oh…!

I had a fab conference call with my agent and Alex on Friday afternoon. Then my agent called that night to discuss a contract he’s working on for me.

In the course of the conversation he says: “When I tell people about you, I always say you’re the most honest person I know.”

I laugh and thank him for the compliment. “Well,” I reply. “I am what I am. What you see is what you get with me. I’m the same in person as I am on the web.”

“I know,” he agrees. “I admire that about you because it’s so unusual.”

It may be unusual, but to me it’s a no-brainer. Growing up in a dysfunctional home, I realized right quick (as we say in the Deep South *LOL) how important it is to build a nourishing life that lets you be who you are.

Unfortunately, I think there’s too much pressure on women to be something we’re not. We’re supposed to be thinner. We’re supposed to look younger. We’re supposed to be prettier. We’re supposed to be richer. We’re NOT supposed allow our lusty inner slut have a voice. We’re NOT supposed to be kinky and love it. And so on…

I’m not saying you shouldn’t live a healthy lifestyle and tone your bod with regular exercise. You know I’m totally into that. But what I am saying is you do the best you can with what you’ve got, and that’s good enough!

I’ve always been a firm believer in pursuing my dreams as well. I mean, why shouldn’t I? Why shouldn’t anyone? If my career gets to the point where it no longer excites me, I tweak it until I love it again. Who cares if it means I take a pay cut for a while? I’ll be making good money soon enough, doing what I love. Hey, it’s more important to me to pursue my dreams, have fun every day, and work a job I enjoy. Who wants to go to a job that feels like drudgery? Horrors! Life is too short for that kind of torture, ya know?

That also means I have to take giant leaps of faith on a regular basis that scare the shit outta me. But those kinds of calculated risks are par for the course if you make it your life’s work to pursue your dreams.

Then my agent and I discussed Twitter. Alex set up that account for me in October. But I’ve been too slammed with the new website, new publisher, book biz, and working on the vamp novel to spend any time at Twitter until a few weeks ago.

“You know what really pisses me off?” I ask.

He laughs. “I know of a few things.”

“It’s those book biz experts on Twitter who think I’m a brainless twit because I write erotica and I’ve chosen to remain in the small press for my entire 22 year career.”

They have no idea how financially successful you can be in the small press if you’re an author who knows how to market and sell. Seriously, they don’t have a clue.

“Fuck ‘em,” he replies. “And not in a good way.”

“That’s exactly what I said!” I exclaim.

And it’s true. I am what I am. Twitter isn’t Facebook. I can be my sexy, slutty self on FB, and my fans love it.

But Twitter is a whole new ballgame. You’ve got a bunch of stuffy book biz people tweeting among themselves. Don’t get me wrong. What they say is fascinating if you love the book biz and bookselling as much as I do. But few of them will give the time of day to an erotica novelist.

And then the whole erotica scene over there is different. It takes a while to find erotica fans and bloggers who won’t freak over sexy talk about hunky guys and the lusty novels we read. For lack of a better word Twitter is kinda neutered and prudish when it comes to erotica.

Horrors!

“Plus,” I continue. “I’ve only been there two weeks. I’m still learning Twitter. But I found out today I’ve already been blocked.”

“Oh, no,” my agent groans. “By Twitter?” Okay, I have a history of online censoring. But I’m getting better at staying one step ahead of the web censors. Really, I am. LOL

“Nah,” I reply. “She’s one of those snotty book biz experts.”

“Fuck her,” he replies. “You can’t please everyone. You’re different than most erotica novelists. You have to be who you are. That’s always been your strategy, and it’s a good one for Twitter as well.”

“That’s exactly what I said after I realized what she’d done,” I reply. No wonder I love this guy so much!!

Who knows why she blocked me? Could be because she doesn’t like sex or erotica or Witches. Maybe she thinks all erotica novelists are brainless twits.

Who cares? Not me.

I am what I am, and I’m having a blast at Twitter now cause I finally found a bunch of readers/fans/bloggers who love erotica and sex as much as I do. They’re cool and don’t freak over the lusty way I talk about hunky guys, jogging while wearing my nipple jewelry, sexy books, etc.

I’ve Been a Kinky Girl for a Looooooong Time

Thanks, everyone, for your positive response to “Laura’s Naughty Sex Shop.” Yay!! All of you definitely made my day with your awesome comments at my website and Facebook.

It was a lot of work, but also major fun gathering the cool stuff I’ve raved about in my blog posts in one convenient place for my readers. Of course, many of those items brought back memories.

Burn, Baby, Burn!

The weirdest thing happened to me a few weeks ago. My upper lip got really dry, and no matter how much lip balm, lip gloss, or moisturizing lipstick I used it just got worse.

Huh?

After a few days of this I began to suspect Wes had finally given me herpes. He gets fever blisters, and they’re caused by one of the herpes viruses. Unfortunately, he always knows when he’s about to get one because his upper lip dries out.

Uh-oh.

We’ve tried really hard over the last 31 years to make sure I don’t catch this particular nasty from him. But this seems to be the year for him to give me yucky stuff (like the two UTIs from hell and the yeast infection), so I thought he’d done it again. But no blisters formed, so I was clueless.

Then a few days later burns appeared on my lower lip. Soon both of my lips were completely burned.

Huh?

The good news is this wasn’t herpes. Yay!

The bad news is it was some kind of new chemical or food allergy I had developed (yeah, I have several of those). To what, I had no idea. Obviously, I’d become allergic to a food or product I have always used that never bothered me before, but now it burns my lips. So I began the slow and painful process of eliminating different products from my daily routine to find the culprit.

Of course, by now my lips were red and puffy from the burns, which just kept getting worse. The crazy thing is they looked fantastic. No kidding. I swear my lips looked like I’d just had an expensive Botox job or something. And with the tons of lip gloss I was wearing to keep them moist, they looked soooooo sexy.

Too bad they hurt like hell. Oh, well….

Eventually, I discovered I’d developed an allergy to some of the chemicals in the inexpensive drugstore lip gloss and lipstick I’ve worn all my life.

Yikes!

At first I was afraid I was allergic to all lipstick. Horrors! I do love my bright pink lipstick and lip gloss, ya know? I mean, isn’t that a necessity of life? This slut thinks so.

Fortunately, that wasn’t the case. It seems the only lipstick that felt good on my lips was the one tube of expensive $20 department store lipstick I’d bought last month. Whew! Evidently, these naughty lips of mine are trying to tell me something. They feel they deserve only the very best now. Hey, nothing wrong with that!

So I’m off to the mall this morning to buy more expensive "Wild Plum" lipstick by Estee Lauder. Love it!

Plus, now that’s it’s September, I need to stop by Waldenbooks and check out their 2010 calendars. Time to buy my annual hunky guy calendar for my office.

Endorphins. Gotta Have Them!

Last Thursday I finally took the last of the super-dooper antibiotics for the UTI Wes’s toxic semen gave to me. I felt good all day on Friday, but after dinner I was in a lot of pain.

And it gave me intense bladder pain. So when Wes came home from golfing and jumped in the shower I had one thing on my mind.

Alrightyyyy! I had major fun yesterday, and I certainly deserved it after working my ass off the last few weeks.

First, I stopped by the post office to mail a manuscript to my agent. Then I dashed to the bookstore at the mall. As you know, I always enter the mall through the lingerie department at Dillard’s. Forget Xanax. Just Focus!

I was talking to my agent last week, and he said I should write a blog post about this, so here it is. I never understand why people get so stressed. They must be focusing on the wrong stuff and making life waaaaaaay too complicated, ya know?

I mean, think about it. What are the important things in life?

That’s easy. Sex and fun. Duh! No way life can be complicated when you focus on the important stuff. Fun is simple. Sex is simple. Can’t get any simpler than that.

See? This is why I’ve been so successful as a simple slut. I just ignore all the craziness in my life/career and focus on sex and fun. Consequently, what is my life full of? That’s right. Sex and fun. Yummy! *lusty grin*

As for all the stressful stuff, I’ve found it resolves itself whether Ifocus on it or not. Really. Funny how that happens, but it does.

So why should I waste a minute of my time on unpleasantness? Gee, what a downer.

Here’s another cool benefit of focusing on sex and fun. You’ll make more money. Why? Because you won’t have all that negative energy out there repelling the good stuff sex and fun attract into your life (okay, that’s a Witchy/metaphysical thing, but it’s true!). Okay, back to the money issue. Look at it this way. If you ignore all the stressful stuff in your life and focus on sex and fun you won’t need to buy Xanax any more. See? You just made more money by reading this blog post. Is that cool or what?

Let’s Talk Body Image

Sometimes I hear from women who’ve gained a lot of weight for one reason or another as they got older. Or they feel their breasts are too large or too small. Or their ass and thighs are too big. Or their waist is too thick. Whatever.

This often makes them feel unattractive. And they think their lovers or husbands feel the same way, even if these guys say they don’t. Soon these women develop low self-esteem and poor body-image issues. Believe it or not, this can kill your sex life. Horrors!

Let me tell you a story. When I was in high school I met Debbie. I was a junior, and she was a senior who had transferred from the wrong side of the tracks (yeah, I grew up in a verrrrrry small town).

Debbie was 5′6" and slim. But her face was pockmarked from a bad bout of acne when she was a preteen. Her breasts were small, and her hair was mousy brown with an unflattering curl, so she wasn’t what you would call pretty. Not even close.

Guess what? She acted as if no one had informed her of these "negatives." Instead she strutted around campus like she was a beauty queen. No kidding. Her posture was not only amazing, but incredibly sexy. Those two things…her awesome posture and her positive self-image…transformed her into a Sex Goddess. Really. No wonder guys in high school, college, and beyond flocked to her like bees to a honey pot. And why not? That’s exactly the image she projected.

At that time I’d always wished I had larger breasts. Mine are perky but small (between an A and a B). However that wish died the day I met Debbie. I took one look at how her awesome posture made her small breasts look sexy as hell, and I realized body image is all in the mind. Cool!

Yeah, I’ve been I’ve been a Sex Goddess strutting my stuff (and loving my small perky breasts) ever since, thanks to Debbie’s positive example. The fact that she was a bad girl like me and attracted to bad boys only made her lesson more meaningful. *naughty grin*

Ladies, if a poor body image is keeping you from the sex life of your dreams, you need to understand it’s all in your head. Really. Body image is simply a matter of perception, and perception can be changed from a negative to a positive in an instant.

Don’t let a poor body image keep you from taking advantage of your husband’s or lover’s gorgeous cock and bod. Chances are he thinks you look just fine, or he wouldn’t still be around. Chances are he just wants to love you and fuck you. So let him.

You’ll be glad you did. And, oh, the fun you’ll have. Just ask me! *lusty grin*

One of the Benefits of Being Sex-Obsessed

As you all know, June 30th was my 30-year wedding anniversary. But June also marked another important anniversary in my life. Believe it or not, this naughty blog celebrated its one-year anniversary on June 24th. Wow! Time flies, doesn’t it?

Over the years, I’ve created lots of blogs on Blogger for my novels, but this is my first LiveJournal blog. It’s also my first daily blog. And my first sex-obsessed blog.

Lots of firsts, huh? No wonder it was an instant hit from the first week it went live.

Up until then, only my friends and readers knew what a shameless slut I am in real life. But last summer I unleashed my sex-obsessed life on the cyber-world (Oh-no!). And life as we know it has never been the same. *horny grin*

What amazes me is how much has happened since I launched this lusty blog last summer, and how much it has affected my life and the lives of my readers.

For example, I gained a new publisher last July, who went out of business in March, and then because of this blog I gained an even better publisher in June. Postings from this blog have been censored so many times on several sites around the web I’ve lost count. Thus, I created successful groups featuring this blog at several social networking sites. In fact you may be reading this blog in one of those groups right now. I’ve been cyber-fucked by some totally yummy guys who found me through this blog. And the posts from this blog will appear next year in my first memoir. Whew!

Basically, this blog has leada steady stream of awesome people into my life…new friends, readers/fans, and business opportunities.

On the flipside, this blog has enriched the lives of my readers in ways I never imagined. How do I know? Because every week I receive emails and PMs from readers telling me how much they enjoy this blog, how it makes them laugh, how it makes them horny, and how it has given them the courage to become bolder sexually.

Dontcha love it? I do.

It’s like I always say: life just gets better and better. And not only that. Life should be fun. And fun for me is spelled S*E*X (like who doesn’t know that?! Duh.).
